The Lack Of Language

Singapore has been known to house multiple races and has become a multiracial society with an array of languages. This has in time become a blend that has been conceived as "Singlish" by the locals. As uncouth or uncultured as it may sound at times, it is actually a result of our ability to work as a multiracial society.

However, let us not be confused with the difference between speaking "Singlish" and "broken English". Singlish believe it or not has a a few rules when using it. However, pronunciations and usage of English words in "Singlish" remain the same. I have no reason to believe why "Catastrophe"(Ca-Tas-Tro-Phe) should be pronounced as "Cas-Tas-Tro-Fro-Fre". Mind you, these are not the only mistakes that I have heard coming from people with a higher degree in education.

Of course I know that mandarin is just as important. And I know that there are people like  me out there who can hardly read or write in mandarin. It's just a series of boxes and stroke to us that look vaguely similar to each other and some pronounce the same but carry different meanings. It has always amazed me how people can recognize these strokes. China is the new America. My fellow comrades and I are so "out".

The Present Future Generation

Be honest with yourself. How many of you actually feel that the children of our fathers are ready for life. Do not mistake "Life" for wine and fine dining. Life is not that simple. Television has brought the life of socialites on screen and casted a false idea of life on adolescent viewers.

It has been so influential that you see a change in the behaviors of the young community. They grow up ignorant of the down side of life; waiting for the day they finally receive their golden key. Find a boyfriend that is as or almost as hot as the protagonist's boyfriend. Failing to notice the fact that a lack of proper education would end up in tragedy and a chance to miss out on their real future. The problem with teenagers of recent is their eagerness to grow up and live the life of their choice.

I have heard enough of whiners who believe that they are special enough to skip out on certain protocols in life or that they are too upgraded to perform arduous tasks. Splash a load of meaningless tattoos on themselves and engage in unprotected premarital sexual activities.

People work. That's where money comes from so you can live the life you want. It doesn't happen magically.

Thankfully, these are still a minority of our population. All I can do is frown upon these activities and hope for a change as our nation progresses forward.
